where 所在之處。在這句話中的 where 是從屬連接詞 (subordinating adverb)，用來表明地方，引導一個表明地方的副詞子句 (adverbial clause) "Where there's a will"，修飾主要子句 "there's a way"。

通常從屬連接詞所引導的副詞子句放在前面時，需用逗點 (,) 分開，放在後面時則不用。這句俗諺的正規書面寫法應該是 Where there is a will, there is a way. 縮寫與省略逗點是約定俗成的用法。

Where there's a will there's a will. 常被譯為「有志者事竟成」，不過和原句意思略有不同。way  可指出路、方法，但從語意邏輯來看，並不承諾事情能夠成功，也不確定下決心的人願不願意採用那些方法，所以翻譯成「有志者事竟成」有點失真。

Where there is . . . there is . . . 是個很好用的句型。比如 Where there's life there's hope. (生命之所在，希望之所在；留得青山在，不怕沒柴燒。) Where there's smoke there's fire. (有煙的地方就有火；無風不起浪；事出必有因。)
