奧莉亞〈邀請〉Oriah, "Invitation" (1999)

奧莉亞‧浩斯 (Oriah House) 是加拿大女詩人，以 Oriah 或 Oriah Mountain Dream 為筆名。曾出版 The Invitation 一書 (中文由李永平譯為《心靈邀約》，雙月書屋，2000年)。這首詩常被轉載為〈印地安長老的一段話〉。

What you do for a living.
I want to know
What you ache for
And if you dare to dream
Of meeting your heart's longing.
你做什麼維生
我並不感興趣。
我想知道的是
你渴望些什麼

squaring，原形動詞為 square，在占星學的相位 (aspect) 中，指的是兩個行星形成90度的位置，也就是相剋。

moon 在占星學中指的是月亮星座，代表一個人的潛意識，也就是從小所受的影響而造成的長大後所產生的內心感受和行為。也因此此一詩節所提到的主題是和內在所承受過的傷害有關。

你是否能對痛苦處之泰然

不要起身把它藏起
或是讓它褪色
或是想辦法處理。
